Gwen: No, it’s not that. It’s the crashing and banging. The baby can’t sleep, my teenage daughter can’t hear her records and my nerves are getting bad. My husband’s a bit deaf so the noise doesn’t bother him much, though I think we’ll all be deaf soon if it goes on.
Jackit: Oh, I’m sorry about the noise. We’re knocking down a wall to enlarge the kitchen. They’re so tiny in these houses and we need a more spacious kitchen to eat in. I only wish you’d mentioned it before. As the house next door is empty we didn’t think we were disturbing anyone.
